Doodle of the Week #3

This week’s doodle is a very pretty one; well… that is my opinion.

One day I was just messing around with my markers and came up with a little something. ¬†I hope you like it ūüôā

Rainbow River

The mixture of the vibrant colors is the thing that really sets off the spark. ¬†When drawing pictures (doodles) like these it is not¬†necessary¬†to be perfect and precise. ¬†As you can see some of the colors are overlapping each other; which is perfectly¬†OK. ¬†Remember there is not a certain way of drawing something…everyone has their OWN taste. ¬†Just because I drew the rainbow one way doesn’t mean you have to. ¬†Just be creative…go with what is best.

Trees?

Trees? ¬†Yes well… let me explain. ¬†For a school project I had to buy a¬†photo book¬†and identify and collect 45 leaves! ¬†Well now I am finished with putting the leaves in. ¬†Now I just have one page left… a “definition of a tree” page. ¬†Well I just thought…with my new prismacolor markers and everything I should just draw the word trees on the page that I write the definition of a tree on. ¬†Well… it is looking very good and am glad I decided to do it. ¬†Well I guess you want to see it so here it is…..

I think it is just amazing what you can do with prismacolor markers and a little bit of talent! hehe ūüôā

I used:

Pencil – to write the letters and draw the tree branch

Sharpie – to outline the letters and tree branch and some other detail

Thin Permanent Marker- to outline the outline of the letters and some small detail

Grass Green Prismacolor Marker- Leaves and the word “TREE”

Dark Brown and Sienna Brown – Tree Branch

Black Colored Pencil – “Tree” shade effect

Talent – Got that talent for drawing from my Dad

Secret Forest

This last summer I was taking an art class.  I told my instructor what kind of things I liked to draw and we started immediately.  This class was a lot of fun and I learned A LOT!  I drew this landscape picture of a lake, forest, hills, a cabin and beautiful clouds.  My instructor taught me good techniques when drawing real life and not just objects it has really helped me.  Eg: How to make clouds look better.  I am glad I took this and am looking forward to more art classes which will help me improve.

The reflection in the water looks very realistic and was probably one of the hardest parts.  The trees and the clouds add the perfect touch.  Having a problem on deciding what to draw?  Just collect Christmas cards with good pictures on them and then one day just try to copy it and see how well you do.  Practice, practice, practice!

A quick tip: ¬†When drawing more than one of something always have an odd number. ¬†Just like the birds in the air, ¬†I drew 7 of them. ¬†You don’t want to draw an even number of the same kind of thing. ¬†I don’t know why but it just looks better and is a well known tip for better drawings.
